The Nihon Keizai Shimbun compiled a forecast of pretax-profit growth rankings for companies newly listed on Japan's three fast-growing stock markets (JASDAQ; Mothers; Hercules). According to the ranking report, Takeuchi Mfg. was ranked 24th with an estimated 1.43yen billion pretax profit, up 79% from a year earlier. Takeuchi Mfg. plans to launch a new model of crawler-loader in the U.S. market beginning March 2003, while, for the European market, it will introduce a 13-ton class large-size hydraulic shovel in June. Through this expansion of its product line-up, the company aims to raise annual sales for the Feb. 2006 term to 25yen billion, an increase of 20 percent over the estimated annual sales figure for the Feb. 2003 term.  

The opening price was 740yen per share; total trading volume was 301,000 shares.  

Commented President Takeuchi: "I feel many years of strenuous effort have been rewarded with due recognition. Customer confidence is the vital key to success of our overseas business. Taking this JASDAQ listing as vital momentum, I hope our corporate image will be enhanced even further." He also reminisced about the company's early years, discussed the present state of its business, and its strategy for future development.
 

The company announced that it will double the pace of new model launches, from the former 1 to 2 models every two years to 1 to 2 models every year. By expanding its lineup of quick-wheeling vehicles such as earth/soil carriers, Takeuchi plans to expand its business by focusing on Europe and other markets where its share for this product line remains low. The company aims to increase consolidated sales by 50 percent in three years.  

As a member of the Koshoku/Hanishina team, Shuichi Miyairi (a Togura Plant employee) admirably completed his run in the 10th leg (10km between Chino and Suwa) in the 51st annual Ekiden relay marathon race traversing Nagano Prefecture, which took place on November 16-17. Thus he contributed to his team's target of finishing in 8th position (overall for the two days combined).
