What is RSS?

RSS stands for RDF Site Summary or Rich Site Summary and is a format for delivering information on a Website's content. It enables people to immediately know what information is available on that site.

What is an RSS feed?

An RSS feed is the name given to both the data format used for providing users with changing Website content, and to the actual data that is being provided. An RSS feed enables the user to stay informed by retrieving the latest information on a Website without having to actually visit that site.

What is an RSS reader?

An RSS reader is a tool for checking RSS files on Websites and then displaying the latest information available. The RSS reader downloads RSS files from Websites and checks them for new information that it then displays. Many freeware RSS readers are now available, either built into Web browsers or in some other form, so choose an RSS reader that suits your computing environment.
